Starting the count down to 2018? Here at ValuSpace® Personal Storage we are helping our Albany NY community with our holiday initiative. From storage solutions for any situation to charities in need during the holidays, we aim to help.
The only way we can make impact on our neighbors is with your help. We are collecting items for Equinox Inc., a human service agency focused on positively impacting our Capital Region.
This organization works hard to help anyone struggling with a drug dependency, domestic abuse or mental illness. Through dedication and compassion Equinox Inc. is the advocate for people struggling to get back on their feet. Equinox Inc. supports more than 5,000 people every year.
In 2012 ClearView Center and Equinox merged and began improving the lives of many in need. Before these foundations merged, the ClearView Center provided treatments for families who were given no other option than an institution as a means of solving their childs’ mental illness. Many times the state institutions were miles away and put more strain on a family. The ClearView Center opened their doors in 1947 and continued to supply families with the answers they need to fight mental illness.
Later in 1969 leaders in the community started working at The ClearView Center. They saw a need to help young people and their families, alienated from social service programs. They started with a 24-hour hotline and later grew with programs and counseling services. In the early years the organization ran solely by volunteers. It was not until 1973, that the organization became Equinox Inc. and hired the first full time staff.
Now, together, these organizations assist homeless youth and families, people dealing with illnesses, as well as victims of abuse. They have after school programs for at-risk youth, along with a counseling center for adolescents and adults dependent on chemicals.
We are proud to be working with this vibrant organization to better our Capital Region community. Thank you to everyone who donated to the food drive for their Thanksgiving meal. Our office is still a location to drop off personal care items.
